AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR,

Marcel Van Beneden decided to restart his father’s business, a distillery known as “Les Distilleries de la Couronne”.

Wine sales gradually came to dominate the business and became increasingly successful.

In 1967, the company merged with Godaert and became the limited company Godaert & Van Beneden. The family business is now being carried on by the fourth generation.

With three splendid shops and a fourth due to open in the spring of 2020, the company looks well set to continue. As true lovers and connoisseurs of wine, the Van Benedens are keen to take their customers on a journey through their very full yet discriminating range of wines of all types purchased direct from the growers.

Today, our new challenge is to take a new, different approach and explore wines from nontraditional or heirloom grape varieties or made using new methods, to ensure new experiences.

We are focusing on organic, biodynamic and natural wines, which has led us to discover a new generation of winemakers with different approaches for customers with different expectations.
